Wait list open to interested possible adopters - 12/18/2020
As Greyhound racing has ended in Florida and Alabama, the incredible sources we have been able to enjoy for retired athletes are gone forever. The future is uncertain, and we have no guarantee how many or when we will be able to offer dogs for adoption. If you wish to be considered as we move forward, complete and submit this form. Please understand this is no guarantee you will be contacted since we are unsure ourselves – if you have other sources to adopt, we strongly encourage you to pursue those options. We will use this list to look at possible adopters when dogs are available in the future. Should you be a possible candidate, you will be contacted at that time using the information you leave below and told how to proceed.
To join the wait list, please complete all required questions when completing the wait list form. Submissions with missing information will be deleted in order to make room.
*** NOTE that we ONLY adopt to the Central Virginia area including the Richmond Metro Area, west to the Charlottesville area, east to the Williamsburg/Newport News area, and south of the Fredericksburg area. We will not accept inquiries from outside this area. ***
James River Greyhounds is grateful for your support through the many years we have been together.
About James River Greyhounds
James River Greyhounds is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding responsible, caring homes for retired racing greyhounds in the Central Virginia area including the Richmond Metro Area, west to the Charlottesville area, east to the Williamsburg/Newport News area, and south of the Fredericksburg area. Since 1989, we have found "forever homes" for more than 1350 greyhounds - and counting! We are now partnered with Greyt Love Retirement (GLR) to bring even more greyhounds into the region! GLR provides a shelter to foster greyhounds while they await their forever homes.
